Suggested gaming build for that price:

http://orders.ebuyer.com/customer/ [...] hvd19jYXJ0

total - £465

If you are mainly gaming then this would be better - 4 cores are a waste really unless you use professional multi-threaded apps like final cut pro, scientific programs or are big time into programing things like graphics. Then a 4 core cpu will save you lots of time, but if you just web browse and use the pc for casual office or even a bit heavier applications like SPSS, photoshop etc. at the same time you are listening to itunes - you don't really need to have a 4 core cpu. It may be nice, but it is a luxury really, I should know cause I do all that stuff on a dual core 2.16 Ghz mobile processor. Gaming is likely to be the most performance intensive programming you will run, and games like GPU's. There it is better to get a good GPU for gaming - you will notice a huge difference. Also you can OC this cpu up to 4.0 Ghz, so you should be pretty good with that - it is much faster in games than the Q6600 - which is outdated now anyways - if you have to go quad go with the newer 45nm processors.

Much better not to cheap on the case or the PSU as well - read Proximon's guide for reasons why.

Anyways hope this helps.

oh and by the way - ebuyer.co.uk and scan.co.uk are much better than microdirect

also if you join as a member of hexus.co.uk (gaming and hardware testers - kinda like TOMs, you also get free delivery from scan!) check it out

Oh, that confirmed my suspicions of what could go wrong, here are the parts any ways:

RAM:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/154644

CPU:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148715

CPU cooler:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ZER [...] ional-brac

MOBO:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152175

CASE:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143854

GPU:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/164568

Optical Drive:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/156231

PSU:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131052

HDD:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/144339

I would check both ebuyer and scan to find the cheapest parts, this is just a suggestion build but it beats the above Q6600 build in any game. Technically on a 24 inch you would want to get a P45 board with 2 x PCI Express 2.0 slots, a 550W PSU and go for 2 x 4770's in CF if you can afford the extra £100 that will cost you - no game will beat that really if you OC the wolfdale.

Hope this was better :)

tnx

i thought core2duo is better option than dual core :( i checked that here - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

also ive always had nvidia GPU wudn't nvidia be better option ?
not questioning ur selection jst been happy with my nvidia 7300 LE for 2 yrs so thought of going for better but affordable option for nvidia again

liked the case u chose, lots of fan, wud be better definitely than my xblade box lol

^ well nvidia is old tech now since ATi is already moving to 40nm, nvidia has just moved to 55nm.

also 2 4770's is better than a single GTX 285 and costs less.

oh yeah wait a sec and I'll conjure up a build.

edit: how's £530 for you? it includes a 1TB HDD if that makes a difference.

Yeah I think that is all it takes

^ you also need to post 20 meaningful posts which probably isn't worth it since shipping's only £15 usually.
