My problem is when I use AMD Overdrive (or any other temp software) it reports my CPU temps to be -256C. I can only assume that means they aren't reporting correctly. Is there anything I can do? The BIOS still correctly displays temperatures.
Second question, my MB has a setting to manually set my memory speed to 1600. Can I set this as my RAM is rated for it? Or will it not do anything because of other limitations of my setup.
Thirdly, is there a way to utilize power saving features while still overclocking? As in, can I set the multiplier higher yet it still dials back on no load?
My previous PC build was with a AMD 3200+ so I'm just catching up on new changes.
If you're not at BIOS F3, you might try it; it is common for GB to not quite 'get' the IT8718 LPCIO competely down in the first couple of BIOS revs, though the changelog doesn't mention this specifically (does mention corrected intialization code, though); BIOS can be gotten here:
http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Mot [...] leID=14989 Don't use @BIOS - it's a board killer!
good call, I haven't updated the bios yet.
I won't lose my 'hybrid' ability will I? I thought they did something to get rid of that after F2. I will try it when I get back on.
If you mean HybridXFire, I don't think they'd dare disable that - AMD/ATI would have a hissy fit, and it would 'cripple' the OBGPU that people buy the chipset for in the first place...
