I would not buy vista now . Download the release candidate of windows 7 and use that . Its free , for now

Use the money you save to move to a proper AM3 system with a 955 and ddr3 memory .

Then save some more money by buying a ATi 4770 . Depending on the game it benches above or below the 9800gt , but its only $90 and has better software . it also gives you the option of crossfire later
http://www.tomshardware.com/review [...] ,2281.html

Have a look at antec earthwatts 500 W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817371007

or
SeaSonic SS-500ET 500W ATX12V V2.2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817151069

Edit :
crossfire and sli is using two or more gfx cards in the same computer to increase gfx quality . The 4770 is ideal for 19 inch lcd's and OK for 22inch 1680 x 1050 panels . On screens with higher resolutions it will struggle

all the hardware will come with cables . Most motherboards ship with a selection

Id also suggest a larger hard drive the WD se16 320 gb drive is a quality product and very reasonably priced

What games do you play? How long do you plan this rig should last? What is your exact screen resolution, or you haven't bought a monitor yet?

Both of Outlander's PSU suggestions are fine. I would say with crossfire 4770s something a bit bigger might be nice:

Or if it's going to stay a single card setup:

Similar to Outlander's suggestions really... rated a bit higher wattage but maybe a tad under in other areas... hard to say without a side-by-side. Those two are a bit older designs.

Also, about the Windows 7. How would you install it onto a brand new build? Would you have to burn it onto a dvd from another computer and trasfer it over with that dvd? Or what?

The option would really be awesome!

THat's exactly what you do. Just get the computer to post, then plop in the DVD and everyth0ing should work fine. Look up some tutorials on google.

Also, does anyone have windows 7 who would like to share their experience on the new OS??

Thanks!

Ok, so i just saw this cpu for only 20 dollas more. Do you guys think I should use this cpu instead of the one i have posted up above?

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor - Retail

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103674

And will this new cpu work with the motherboard up above?

Also, What are the advantages of having a faster cpu for game play. Rather than having a better video card?(which i believe the 4770 is a good one, right?)

Thanks!

Your video card will have a bit more weight than the CPU.

Generally, a good balance would be the X3 720:

With the 4870 1GB:

As to your board selection and the AMD X4 955, yes they will work together.

windows 7 works really good, though, i had issues with my radeon x1600 mobility, had to hack the inf file for old catalyst to see my video card

but since you have new components, you won't have any problem like that
