I have a Galaxy 9600GT 512MB

I recently got Crysis and found that after a while - say 30 minutes the screen would go blank etc etc.

I figured it has overheating. I had a look on Speed Fan and sure enough it was idling at around 68C, and 100C+ on load.

I opened it up found heaps of dust, gave it a good clean, put on some thermal paste, and now it's idling at 61C and after 30 minutes of Crysis is at 97C. (though it hasn't shut down yet)

Sigh.

Now my PSU is 600W (I have a Q6600) and the core temps are fine - all 35C-42C idle.

The GPD fan is spinning fine - I got rivatuner and put the fan up to 100% to see if that would do anything.

Now I DON'T have a slot fan. Will that do the trick? Or is something else seriously amiss here?

Any recommendations on good slot fans for 9600GT?

Is there any othe rinformation I need to give?

Well I bought a JetartV3600 fan:

It was pretty easy to install (the fact that I could do it means it must be easy!)

It brought the idle temp down from 60C to low to mid 40s.

After playing Crysis for 30 min it used to get up to 105C, now it is 63C, and it took about a minute to get back to 45C.

Plus it runs very quiet (much quieter than the stock fan) and it is running at the fan is running at 50% (according to the Galaxy Xtreme tuner)

Pretty happy results for $28.
