I just installed an MSI G31TM-P21 mobo replacing an old mobo. New one has just 1 IDE board connector. I have 2 HDDs and 2 CD/DVD drives. Right now I have one HDD with the OS and one CD/DVD drive hooked up, along with another cable for a floppy.
Is there any way I can get the other HDD and the other CD/DVD hooked up?
You can buy new SATA DVD drives for around $25 each. IDE is really a dead format at this point. SATA just has so many advantages.
You can however get adapter cards that plug into a PCI slot that will give you more IDE connections. I would get a cheap one.
My advice is to get new hard drives.....if you still have IDE anything new will blow those away. I still use IDE burners myself but burners have not really made the major leaps in speed like hard drives have.

Thanks for the info. I'm not switching to SATA, just reusing the old stuff for now. I've already checked on PCI adapter cards and will probably get one tomorrow. Only question is will it fit the mATX mobo, since some older PCI cards I have are too long between PCI slots and case panel openings to fit.
