DVD-rw drive can\'t read any disc.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Model 1415-S173. My computer picked up a Worm while I was traveling in Southeast Asia. The Worm went undetected until it started wiping out my computer. I rebooted the computer form the recovery disc and then preceded to reinstall my programs. I installed Encarta from a disc and then upon trying to install the next program my CD-DVD drive stopped being able to read any disc I put in it. I then ask my computer to troubleshoot the problem and it said nothing was wrong. Where do I go from here?

Windows troubleshoot is a Joke !
Any error being reported in device Mgr for the Drive ? Normally I tell people to Reinstall the OS. Even removing an infections you can never be sure remnants are not left over. How did to remove the "worm", or did you not bother, and just restored ? You could Run your antivirus scans, and also Malwarebytes, is worth downloading, if you do not already have it.
