Atom for home PC again

What are the typical applications of atom based desktop ?
Is it fast enough for
- audio and video playing
- Internet
- MS office application

My Atom based netbook does all the above.... however building a desktop PC you might just as well by a Celeron CPU for the same money.

Atom and the chipset it comes with are a joke performance wise compared to anything similarly priced.
