Hi, I am thinking of upgrading a pc i built a while back, but am unsure where the bottleneck is.

System:
Asus M3N-HD/HDMI
Phenom 9950BE & 3.1
4 GB Corsair Dominators
Asus Xonar Sound card
GTX 260 SLI
Corsair 750W PSU

Main use is gaming and I'm generally happy with it, but a bit annoyed i am getting barely any increase out of the second GTX 260. On the crysis benchmark i get about a 30% increase in SLI and with COD5 I get about a 10% increase at most.

My first thought is the cpu is probably holding it back? But 3.1 is the max i can overclock it to...even with 1.44 Vcore it isn't stable at 3.2

My motherboard does support the AM3 so i guess the newer phenom processors would be the best bet?

Cheers

A Phenom II 940 would help in some games, sure, but don't expect a spectacular improvement. I'm not convinced that the Phenom II 955 would work with your MB. Try to make sure it does before you buy, OK?

Try overclocking the GPUs.

Thanks for the reply, i just checked the asus website and they only mention support for the 940....just trying to make my second 260 worth it.

i just checked fallout 3 SLI and it was better without it, which is annoying.

The only thing I can see is the GPU , everything else looks fine.
