Hi,

I have just installed this HD on my PC and after installing Win XP, I have realised that in the properties of the HD, it shows that I have only 132Gig of capacity for C drive.

But inside the volumes tab in the device manager, I have 953868MB.

I updated my bios but still no joy.

Hope you can help me.

I am using an ASUS M2N68-VM motherboard wrunning on WinXP Professional.

Hard drive manufacturers state there hard disk drive capacity in SI decimal units:

1MB = 1,000,000 Bytes
1TB = 1,000,000,000,000 Bytes

To Microsoft Windows XP:
1MB = 1,048,576 Bytes
1TB = 1,099,511,627,776 Bytes

What you see for the Capacity in the Properties for your hard disk drive:
953,868 MB

953,868 MB x 1,048,576 Bytes/MB = 1,000,203,091,968 Bytes which is close enough to the manufacturers specification if you only look at four significant digits.

You weren't cheated and there's no problem with your BIOS version or with Windows XP.
