Hp pavilion nx9600 laptop takes to long to boot

This may sound insane, seeing that you have a fresh install, but I would do a repair-install from the xp cd. Feeling that something went amiss in the install. I would also run something like memtest to check your Ram. While you're at it run a chkdsk /r on your hard drive.



Start by taking a look at your startup programs to see if you want to eliminate any that you really do not need loaded at boot time.

Start > Run > type "msconfig" without the quotes
Click on startup Tab.
Then uncheck what you don't want to run.

sorry to say i've tryed this didn't work. this is a fresh windows xp pro installed.this just take so long to boot.also will not shut down at all .i hold off button down to shout down.
 



@Bob1940: Your unit ships with either 512 or 1024 RAM.

How much do you have & how long is it taking to boot ?
