Ok, so im looking at getting the Asus Xonar DX from ebuyer, by the looks of it its the best value for the money.

Now as its my first sound card i want to ask a noobie question:

Is it necessary for me to uninstall the onboard sound? if so should i uninstall drivers and disable it within bios?

And is there anything else that i will need to know?

It can't hurt. Although you can set preferred devices in Control Panel you're not going to be using the onboard sound so you might as well disable it and strip its drivers out to save any conflicts.

I have my onboard, Razer Barracuda, and ASUS Xonar D2 all installed at the same time...that being said, some cards don't like playing with others...

Cheers for the imput, i guess as i only use a headset and mic, its not gonna hert to disable it.
