I'm having a problem with Vista 64. I just changed from a Gigabyte MA770 UD3 to a Gigabyte MA790X-UD4p in order to take advantage of crossfire. I also got another Sapphire 4830. Loaded the newest chipset drivers and the newest video drivers from ATI.

I've seen this problem in other forums but no solutions.

When I have one card in the sytem (have tried with both cards independently) the system boots up fine. If I install then power up the other card the system boots fine. If I add the crossfire bridge the OS won't load past the initial Vista little round logo. The sound gets corrupted a bit and then the system attempts to load on occasion but it goes black with a blinking cursor like line in the upper left corner. Have tried two bridges, same result.

Rosewill 750W PSU
Gigabyte MA790X
Two Sapphire 4830's
8GB OCZ Plat. 1066 (4X2)

Anyone have a solution? :o

try uninstalling the drivers completely using driver cleaner, and then install both cards, boot up and then re-install the driver

I left the computer after an attempt to boot once I had removed cleaned and reinstalled the video drivers ATI 9-5 and came back and Vista had come up while crossfire mode was showing in catalyst. the system was very slow and the sound was corrupted. I removed the sound driver and cleaned it. then tried to run far cry and crysis. Neither would load completley. When the system tried to kick into 3D it would freeze.

Serene screen aquarium 3D was even jerky.

I removed the second card and everything seemed to straighten itself out. I even got an HDMI sound device to work without loading the drivers. works fine with either card but not both. I'm thinking it can't be hardware.
