Hi All, how you can read in the title, i dont know whats happening with my PC, but since the shop is not giving me the FPS I thought. So I wonder, could be the video card is bad...?? Previously had a 8800GS XXX, and i change it for the processor and this video card (HD3870), i dont know if are the video card or complete PC, because in games like COD4 I get about 35 -40FPS, and its supposed to give 50-60 + FPS in. America's Army, people with the same card gives you 86 + FPS, I just 30-45, it is not??

PC Specs:
AMD Phenom 9600 BE @ 2.31GHz
2GB DDR2 Crucial Ballitix Tracer @ 800MHz
Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-SH2
400GB Western digital Caviar SE16 16mb
ATI Radeon Sapphire HD3870
17'' FlatPanel Screen
OS: Windows XP SP3 32bits

I would try to clean out any software or viruses that might be using up your resources. Any game should run at great FPS with that processor/graphics card on such a small screen.

edit: nvm, i thought your video card was a 4870, not a 3870. Thats probably it.

yeah.. but why some peoples with the same card, get more FPS... and they had worst CPU and the same 2gb of memory... idk why.. im getting crazyyyy!!

the 3870 is a better GPU then the 8800GS aka 9600GS. The 3870 would be equal to a OC 9600GT.

your games may have increased their settings once they saw new hardware

also a fast dual core CPU will outperform that 2.3ghz phenom in certain games

Be sure you have that Phenom "patch" disabled in BIOS if you can. I remember that helped someone else improve FPS quite a bit.

Your FPS are effected by so many variables. programs running in the background, internet connection, dual monitor set up.

Just because a card showed in test that it could get X FPS does not mean you will have the same results. The FPS you are getting are very good. Besides the human eye cannot perceive faster than 23-30 FPS anyway. If you are really unhappy, I would say take it back to the shop where they did the work and have them fix it for you.

Just to add a bit of info. Here are the specs on your previous card and your new card. I could not find spec on your exact card but I got the closest one to it.

It clearly shows your old card is much faster. I would go back to the shop that did that work and yell at them for selling you a down grade.

perhaps you should think twice before you post and make a complete idiot of yourself for your lack of knowledge when it comes to video cards. His previous card does not even show up on your linked list.

the 8800GS is below the 3870 in terms of performance. The card was re-branded as a 9600GSO 384mb, it competed against the ATI 3850.

If i where you irish, I would delete all your posts and rid us of your stupidity.

Wow who turned on your jerk switch, Pal. So i made a mistake and pulled the wrong info off of this websites pages. Maybe instead of being a tool. You could have been nice and reposted the proper links. Either way climb back into your hole, and troll some place else.
