I am planning to buy an AMD cpu and board.
Below is the candidate,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Comb [...] mbo.236878

This is within my price range, $200 - $250 for cpu & board.
I am a frugal dude.

My question is, will there be a better deal soon?
I have heard that Intel will be launching i5 in September so most of the current cpus from intel and amd will be dropped in price.

Shall I wait till September?

Your opinion is appreciated !

That's a pretty nice deal. Stuff always drops in price so you could just wait forever.

What you'd be getting for that price is well worth it, the GX is by far the best value mobo you can get and the 945 is a more than competent cpu. In p/p terms, you'd be hard pressed to find anything much better.

I honestly thought this was going to be another flame war between those who think AMD is going out of buisness and those that think their stock will rebound tomorrow... but to answer the question: The 945 is a great cpu for non-overclockers, and the 790GX is a great chipset, but Biostar is a no-name brand of mobos. If these don't bother you, pull the trigger, it's a great deal.

The Phenom 945 will for the most part OC as well as other Phenoms. Around 3.4GHz @ stock volts ...

Biostar with the 790GX chipset has been a solid performer BUT I don't know anything about that specific mobo ...

Here is a Zerotherm cooler for $22 AR if that's your thang. It's BIG - make sure it will fit in your case.

If you want to OC 'to the limit' here is some FET cooling for yah
