I am attempting to flash the bios of my Ati mobility firegl 5250 to a mobility x1700 as they have the same hardware. I would first like to back up my original bios in case something stupid occurs. I have used flashrom, atiflash, and winflash. Flashrom cannot detect any hardware, atiflash tells me I do not have a bios, and winflash crashes upon opening.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Try GPU-Z.
Not sure if that is a good idea though.
You may be left with an unusable laptop.

Gpu-z said that BIOS reading is not supported on my device.
