I have q6600 2.4 go cpu,667 3gb ram,500 watt psu and a ga-73pvm-s2h gigabyte mobo.
I want to reach 3 ghz on the cpu but have the ram at 667 its standard speed.
How can i do this i have very good cooling case a artic freezer 7 rev 2 cpu cooler.

I am sort of clued up on overclocking in bios, just the fsb:dram ratio is kinda a problem for me at the moment!

Optimum is 1:1. So leave the RAM clock set to 667 MHz and set the FSB freq to 333 MHz.

Core2 systems don't gain anything by running the RAM faster than the FSB.

Speaking from experience, the ACF7P is good for arond 3.3 GHz. For that, set the FSB freq to 367 MHz and the RAM clock to 733 MHz.

For the CPU, 3.0 GHz will need little or no vcore increase. 3.3 GHz will need a small increase.

If you are going to try to push the RAM to DDR2-733 speeds, try increasing the memory voltage to 2.2 volts.

Hi i have treid leaving ram 667 and put fsb at 333 on cpu,but system freezes.i left vcore on cpu at normal 1.3 .do i need more juice ,will that make it not freeze! Also i cant get 1:1 as that will run ram at 800 and with no ram voltage control on my mobo at all ,,only timings i can change im stuck at 667..what do you think i should do

if you set your FSB to 333, and put the ram to 667 it will be 1:1 , it won't go to 800. Just put the ram speeds manually to 667.

On my old q6600 thats exactly what i did, with no voltage change and it worked fine
