Ok so here's the deal, i have a Radeon HD 4850 XXX, now i know i need a PCI-E power cord to supply it. With my power supply i don't have this, and i seem screwed, however the card comes with a adapter. It's a 6 pin to 3pin.

Now with that, it seems every thing would work fine and dandy. But of course i look through the manual and it tells me that i SHOULDN'T use the adapter? Can ANYONE shed some light on this situation? If i decide to go ahead with it and use the adapter would anything happen? Or would the card run at less than full speed?

That adapter should be fine, my friend's gaming rig uses one. If it comes with one it should work.

Just be sure whatever PSU you are hooking it to has the juice to power that card so that you don't fry anything.

Alright well thank you, Um i assume 550W is enough? I may even just get a new power supply to be on the safe side.

DiabloTek is a cheap PSU, maybe if you have the money upgrade to something better. Corsair, Antec, OCZ are some nicer brands.
