SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Video encoding, playing media, gaming, office work
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, OS (will use Win 7 RC until the finished version releases)
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: I tend to prefer newegg, but if there is a better deal somewhere else, go for it.
PARTS PREFERENCES: None.
OVERCLOCKING:No
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Yes (in the future)
MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1366x768. Reusing an LCD TV I bought while in college
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Keep to the lower end of the budget if possible. Gaming is not a high priority, more than likely playing older games with a possibility of getting into City of Heroes again.
Since I am not heavy on the gaming, I figured a 4770 would do just fine. If I need more graphics power if I get into more hardcore PC gaming, I can just buy another of that card and crossfire it. Would this be a good build? Thanks for the help!
You wont need more gfx power thanks to the low resolution of your tv screen .
Office work might suck because txt will probably not be all that clear though .
Its a well balanced and decent rig with as much future proofing as any computer is possible of . The only possible improvement would be to swap out the psu for a 650 watt unit . You are never going to need more than that even if you do crossfire a second 4770
on a 1k budget for video encoding it would make more sense to pay the extra $100 for a core i7 build.
on a 1k budget for video encoding it would make more sense to pay the extra $100 for another hdd so the reading and writing won't happen on the same disk, slowing down the whole thing because of the hdd rushing to read/write at the same time..
