My dad is looking for a good gaming PC for about the $2000 range and I wont be around much to help, overclock and tune, and fix minor and major issues. So I found this on Dell's website and so far it looks pretty good as well as the in home support service. This will be used for mostly if not only games from the latest to several years back. What do you guys think?

Dell XPS 730x Gaming PC (Link below opens with default options, but my options that I want to go with are listed below and will need to be reselected.)

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&fb=1&kc=productdetails~desktop-xps-730x&l=en&oc=dxcwwy1&s=dhs

i7-920 2.66Ghz
GTX 285
3 GB Ram DDR3 1066
300GB HHD Raptor 10000RPM
1yr Warranty
Vista 64

Total after tax and shipping: $2,488.21

Good buy for the money, the support, and for them to build it for my dad?

No, not a good buy. Overpriced for what you get. With how little effort it takes to put your computer together and configure it, it's not worth the extra $500+.

Ok check this out. I just found this by searching coupons and such.

i7-920 2.66Ghz
"SLI 2x GTX285"
"6GB RAM DDR3 1066"
"1.5TB RAID 0 (2 750GB 7200rpm)"
"3 yr in home Warranty"
Vista 64

Total after shipping and tax: $2440.44

I pretty much got 2 GTX 285's for SLI, 3 more GB's of RAM, two more years of warranty, and a 1.5 TB HD in Raid 0 for $48 cheaper. Im pretty happy with that, what do you guys think?

p.s. I can build this new computer and have in the past, but I wont be around and my dad doesn't know anything about computers and that is why I love the in home warranty and phone customer support if anything goes wrong. I wont have time to handle the responsibility if something goes wrong with the computer.

oh keep in mind everything else is included like a 1000w PSU, nice CPU fan, Top of the line case, case fans all over, and case lighting fx which aren't all that important.

You're better off keeping inside your daddies $2000 budget, if it comes down to you not wanting to build it for him.. Buy some CyberPower or iBuyPower and get him something that isn't completely overkill, keep in mind they also have warranties. Overall I think you should just build it for him, or educate him and let him do it.

Spitfire7, it's not that hard to put together a computer, tell your dad how or hell - he can google it and learn how to in less then an hour. If a 12 year old can put together a computer, I'm positive your father can as well. If you can make that PC on dell for 2.5k. I bet you can make it for 2k not including combo deals which can hit huge savings, as well as MIRs. And as for tech support - he can go to online forums such as these or hardforum and get answers pretty quickly.
