So iv decided to build a new computer with a budget of £600 whilst keeping some parts from my other computer here is a list of the parts and there links i am planning on using:

list:

GTX 260 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/160748 - £130
Q8200 + cooling - http://www.ebuyer.com/bundle/BYQ46NC34/164969 - £136
xfx nforce 790i - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148014 - £110
antec 300 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143854 - £47
OCZ stealth 600W - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/127861 - £55
vista - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/123052 - £85
4gb corsair- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130429 - £36
thermal paste - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/126410 - £6
dvd drive - for other pc
HDD - from other pc
sound card - from other pc

Total - £605

My question is are all these parts compatible? i have checked but would just like to clarify. Also to save money should i use Windows 7 beta and buy vista at a later date? and also have i forgotten any components that i will need? And please tell me if you think this will be a good gaming computer!

They are all compatable, yes. However, I'd avoid the Q8200 if at all possible. It's the Celeron of quad-cores, comparable to the origional Phenom. It's cache-starved and FSB-bottlenecked. Phenom IIs and e8X00s are much better options, especially at your price point. Look into the Phenom II 720 or Core 2 Duo e8400.

Also, the motherboard you listed is a 780i, not a 790i. 790is need DDR3.

Finally, avoid nVidia-Intel chipsets if at all possible. The OC terribly, and are buggy as hell. nVidia-AMD chipsets are better, but not by much.

Edit: Yes, you're hard drive should be fine. But don't forget to format it!

have you tried looking at scan and overclockers?

for your budget they will give you the best options.

edit: and since it's a gaming rig and your using the Win7 RC then you should be able to fit a 4870 X2 into your budget if you pick the right parts, or if not a 4890 from Overclockers should fit since they have one for about £160

I found the 4890 on overclockers so i swapped the 4870 for the 4890 :) and even tho the Q6600 is 'old tech' from what iv read it is still really good and i cant seem to find anything better for the prices:S
