If the choice were mine, i'd go for the HD4770 as 1st choice or the GTS250 as 2nd. Alternate choice if budget was a big concern is the 9600GT, but only if your budget demanded it.

Power demands are 80 watts for the 4770, 100watts for that GTS250 and about 75 watts for the 9600GT

My choice would be the HD4770. If you overclock it a little you get the performance of the HD4850.

If your main concern is best bang for the buck then

1st 4770
2nd 9800GT
3rd 9600GT
4th 4670
5th 3850
6th 3870

The 3870 is pretty overpriced since the 4670 offeres almost the same performance while costing much less. It's also usually a bit faster than the 3850. The GTS250 isn't looking too good from a value perspective when you compare it to the 4850 and 4770 unless Crysis is your main concern.

No big argument with megamanx, i'm just not too fond of the single slot 9800GT, i've found them to run hot and noisy.

the 3870 offers the same performance as the 9600GT. the 4670 competes against the 9600gso and 3850 in terms of performance.

cheers for all your Replys.

i have a 550 watt PSU, which Should mean i could just about scrape it with the GTS250. i use to have a 3850 and if your comparing to 9600GT, i'll probily get the 9600GT. i use to LOVE my 3850, shame it blown up on me.

i don't see how more preformance then the 3850 could be a great benifit. the 3850 played COD5, Racedriver GRID,
Battle forge, HAWX, BURNOUT PUB , elven legacy, WSC 09 and Fifa on the highest setting with the 16X AA and 8X AS (the games that allowed it) and with V-Sync, without any lagging what so ever. Crysis is the only game where i have to put it on meduim for graphics but i still had 8X AA on and it's not like meduim is crap on crysis :sol:

my 3850 was quite weird though. it was dual slot almost the same to that 3870. it had this sweet Cooler on it, Xtreme III i think it was. NICE. i miss that card.

for the same price as a 9600GT, you can get a 4830 or 4770. both are better in performance and will run fine with your PSU.

nothing against the 9600GT, its a fine card. I used to own one.

thaks ct1615 but the 4770 is £84 (the better one i want)

but the 9600GT is £57

i don't really have a lot of money, and i'm preety sure anything is better then the Nvidia 6100 i'm using right now?

what about this sweet GPU:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-Nvidia-8800GT-Express-Graph...

any good?

i've read about the 4830 and the core speed is way lower the the 650 MHz of the 9600.
i know a gpu is just to do with MHz but it's 20 quid more?

edit: well there definatly more steam processors the 9600, 96

my only concern is with the 9600GT that, compared with ATi cards, the software is VERY low. my old 3850 had 4.1 shader these new Nvidia cards only have 4.0

and my 3850 had DirectX 10.1 and these new Nvidia cards don't.

And as we all know the list of games that use DX10.1 is endless, huge, absolutely f'ing ginormous :pfff:  .

seriously the gts250 is the most powerfull
in terms of perf

top dog
1st gts250
1.5th 4850
2nd 4770
3rd 4830
4th 9800GT
4.5th 8800gt
5th 9600GT
6th 4670
7th 3870
8th 3850

but ati stream processors dont do as much work as nvidia stream processors
so dont count ati sps against nvidia sps.
if it was me id buy the 4850

that link to the 8800GT (aka 9800GT) is a good card, its the next step up the nvidia food chain from the 9600GT. it performs on par with the 4830

comparing nvidia specs with ati specs is like comparing apples and oranges. they go about different ways to achieve the same results. i cant think of one game that uses 10.1 and with directx 11 coming out soon, i cant think one that will use.

if the 8800GT/9800GT, 4830, 4770, are all out of price range then the 9600GT is the way to go. The 9600GT will outperform your 3850, dont worry about the shader level.

Okay. I went to buy the 9600 online with my plastic over on novatech. I went there and it has seemed to be remove from there severs and don't have it. Everywhere else 4 the same gpu is 80 quid. I rather pay out 74 for the 4770. Dead end again :(
June 8, 2009 6:58:05 AM

how about the his iceq3 4370. Is that the one with lights in it? (not like is matters)

I can't give you the link, on testing this on my iPod touch and can't copy text till iPhone OS 3.0 is released
June 8, 2009 7:14:54 AM

4770.. ofcourse.. :)
June 8, 2009 3:20:15 PM

yeah ok, that does look pretty awesome, but since it's the 4730, surly the 4770 is suppose to be better?
June 8, 2009 3:27:48 PM

also i just look again, and the 4730 releseses the 8th in america (why are they so special? :??:  )
June 8, 2009 3:31:22 PM

Is Novatech the best online store in Eupore to purchase computer peripherals? How does it compare with Newegg? Does anybody know?

Yeah the HD4770 is better than the HD4730 but apparently the HD4730 is better than the 9600GT(as we can see in the picture that is in the link I put before.
June 8, 2009 10:12:09 PM

Hi jouney man. I wouldn't say novatech is the best in Europe. My favourate is ebuyer. It's cheap, high in stock and free pap. What else would you want?
