I have just ordered an amd dragon platform system.
8GB CORSAIR XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz
AMD PHENOM II X4 965 BLACK EDITION 3.4 GHz
ASUS M4A78T-E
2GB ATI RADEON HD 4870X2 Crossfire
640GB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s x2 Raid 0

I suppose I'm having doubts about wether I should have gone for one gtx 295 and opted for an i7 processor.
It will be used mainly for gaming, was I foolish to go amd? or is this a good system?

Thanks for looking

well the 4870 X2 was just discontinued, and the 5870 which will beat it and has DX11 comes out in less than a month.

but with the 9.8 drivers you should do fine.

The time to have asked for opinions was before you ordered your parts. :)

depends on how much you paid for it, and i think in like a week(hopefully) i5 is gonna come out and its probably gonna make amd cpu's more cheaper, well thats why im wating a week. and yea everyone talking about the new 5xxx series from ati and how much better it is 30-50% better but i bet its gonna be overpriced so no point right? but yea, cant always wait for the latest stuff, youll get tired and stressed out if you think waiting is good.

It's a bit premature to be claiming that a single 5870 will beat a 4870x2. I agree that if possible, waiting just a bit for the new technology to come out would have been a good idea though.

i love how everyone feels that they have to jump on a band wagon straight away, i used to think like that! bought a amd 9750 cuz apparently quad core was the way to go! by the time stuff is optimized to match a high end new system your parts are obsolete! IM NEVER buying the newest parts again! unless of course i get an absolute bargain like i did with my 4890 and it dropped from 185 to 129! happy with that!
DUDE your pc is sweet! you will kick the ass of anything around man! one thing though?
