Ssd not recognized

HI, Could anyone tell me how to make windows 7 recognize my vertex 2 as an ssd.I presume it doesnt as it still gives me the option to defrag the drive,My read and write speeds are ok,I didnt install the drive in ahci mode it runs in sata .I have another mech hdd for games also installed as secondary drive,many thanks!

Somebody flame me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Win7 require AHCI mode to recognize or TRIM an SSD?

Yep. You can run them in RAID as well but no TRIM in RAID.

But I had it installed in my old machine in sata mode,trim etc no defrag all worked without ahci mode.
