Hello,
The sound icon keeps disappearing from
the task bar and I have no sound. I set the properties to place it there but when it is there is no sound. When I reboot the system the selection setting goes back to unslected mode.

Try this:
Follow instructions Step by step, and DON'T mess with anything else in there!
Strat>Run. Type regedit.
Go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify
or to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify
(Depending on sp version)
Click the IconStreams. Right click it , select Delete, and then Yes.
Click the PastIconsStream. Right click it , select Delete, and then Yes.
Close regedit.
Restarting the Explorer.exe :
Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to open task manager. Go to Processes tab , click the Explorer.exe, and click End Process and End now. Go to File menu, click New Tasks, browse to C:\Windows\Explorer.exe, select it and then click OK.
Close Task manager. :hello:

If after doing that don't appear, enable it once again from control panel, it should remain after restart.
