Enable sound card windows xp

I have lost all of the sound on my computer. System restore did not help because it says I am missing a PCI device. I have no idea what I did or how to fix this. PLEASE HELP in simple terms...Thanks!!!

You need a little more information on the PC, is it a standalone sound card or embedded in motherboard ? If in motherboard, you need to search the exact model on the mfg. website and download sound drivers and install them. If a card, same deal, go to mfg. download specific drivers and install them. Possibly get AIDA32 to tell you what kind of card you have, if helpless. Usually drivers don't go missing, do a full anti-virus/spyware scan on your HD as well.
