Hi can any point me in the right direction.
I have laptop with a 120gb HDD and an external usb driven 320 gb HDD. I would like to be abe to have a copy of my laptops 120Gb drive on the external drive. . If the 120Gb drive fails, I want to be able to remove and replace it with the external drive,or is it possible that the machine can boot to the external drive when it is plugged into the usb socket, if the laptop C: drive fails.

1) Are both Drives IDE or both ATA devices that are interchangable ?
2) Do you have disk imaging (cloning) software ?

If yes, then Clone your hard drive to the USB drive; however, USB devices are temporarily unavailable during boot cycle. You would have to physically replace the drive.
