my dvd player will not always recognize CDs/DVDs---ie I am trying to copy a set of audio discs--it recongizes some but not others- Any ideas?

Sorry, I don't have a solution to your problem, but I can say that I had an older laptop with a Matshita drive, and it behaved the same way. I was unable to get to the root of the problem and had to suffer the stupid drive for 2 years..it would read some discs and completely ignore others.

For the DVDs, it could be an issue of DVD region code mismatch. It's very difficult to bypass the region protection on those drives as I learned the hard way. These drives have a very bad reputation in general.
