Hi guys..

I have a (rather old, 2004) phillips iqon with the following spec:

7vm333m-rz board;
sempron 2800+ cpu; socket A(462)
VIA KM400 chipset,
BIOS Award f5b 1.0;
Max RAM at 2 gb ddr1;GeFirce 7600GT
230gb HDD;

When I look at the task manager and perfromance it shows like it only uses like 5-600Mb of RAM at any time but the cpu is at 100%..
The machine isn't like 'deathly' slow but some pages take longer than I like to load up..
I was looking into overclocking yesterday but i reckon my temp is too high alreday at 58c to even think about that so I'm wondering if there's any way i can
put another board in there that would help me out.. I've been researching but i'm not sure..(I'm no expert guys!)

Im sure a lot of you are thinking just go buy a new machine but i'm reluctant to as i have bought good periphals (and RAM) for this one and don't fancy spending
4/500 euros on a new tower unit with stuff i don't need.. Im not a gamer as such and i don't need huge storage, graphics or RAM..

Good news please!!!!!!

Thanks in advance..

A new board won't gain any speed, and many oem systems require their own motherboards for the windows installation disks to work. I would sell the parts locally and apply the $$ towards a new system. I use craigslist. For more speed on your old system, you'll need a faster cpu. In the states, the barton 3000 sells for around $60 used at some pricewatch venders, but I don't know if it will work with your board.

Thanks man.. I know it's a socket A chip, i was thinking of looking for an Intel chip that will fit in there and work faster but i need new bios too i think.. I was looking at over clock yesterday but i discivered i couldn't change the fsb:dram ratio, which i need to as my RAM has max bandwidth of 166Mhz (it tells me).. confused, lol..
