Hello Everybody:

My dad's computer is running XP, and in generally the system is pretty weak.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-6VX7-4X

When you turn off the computer by the "Turn Off" button in the XP, it does shutdown, but only the system. The computer itself doesn't get shut-downed, and comes up with the message, "the system is now off, you can safely turn your computer off" (more or less, can't remember the exact phrase).

It's not a problem but it is not comfortable, any advise?

Thank you.

Sorry, my bad.

I assumed your dads system has an old AT power supply, in which case the front power-on button would be connected directly to the psu and there is no way to shut it down by software, only by pressing the button.

If it is an ATX power supply then maybe this will help: http://en.kioskea.net/faq/sujet-19 [...] r-computer

Also, directly from MS: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810903

If you can be more specific? There isn't any other way to completely turn off a computer that won't have to do with the power supply?

I'll check what I can do, and if my dad's power supply is an ATX one or not.

Thank you for the guidance, and the useful links.
