So I figure my onboard Ethernet going out is a good excuse to get a new PC. (yes I know its a easy fix but there is no point in investing it it and I need a new PC anyways. )
I plan on getting this new build within two weeks and have a budget around $1000
I plan on using the new build for heavy gaming, heavy multitasking, video making and editing.
I plan on reusing my hardrives, dvd-burner ,monitor, speakers , OS, and my PSU (if possible) which is a 600 watt ultra xfinity.
I prefer to order from Newegg but its not required.
I would prefer it being a core i7 build.
I plan to overclock the CPU. SLI/CrossFire is a option.
My monitor's res is 1920x1080
I have a few ideas in mind such as the i7 920 and the 4850 X2 2GB but am open to opinions Any help is greatly appreciated.
You probably won't be able to re-use your psu, but the optical drive and hard drives will save you about ~$120. Going the i7 route may still go over budget, but seeing as you have a 1920x1080 resolution you will probably want a nice video card or two. At this point I figure your best option would be a Phenom II x4 940, Crossfire 4770s, Corsair 650-750TX.
Your other option is going with an i7, but a lower end video card which may stress you out on 1920x1080 depending on the games you play. This would include an i7 920, Asus P6T Deluxe v2 or SE mobo, GTX 260 core, and probably a 750TX.
You will need an after market cooler seeing as you want to overclock, so that should also use about $50 of your budget. If you'd like I can start putting together two builds with the PH II 940 and the Core i7 920.
Well the $1000 price isn't set in stone and can exceed it just not by to much. Also I can hold off on OCing at this time as well so a after market cooler can wait. I'm sure a PH II or a Core i7 would both slaughter my old E4300 @3ghz. I could most likely get one in a month so I'm still interested in what you would suggest.
Also I have a question about the CF 4770s. They seem to perform quite well in CF but what performance and setting do you think I could achieve on Fallout 3 and Empire Total War?
Also I would like to see both builds that you can come up with. Thanks for your help.
Well I just got in range of my budget and got pretty much what I wanted. I figure my current power supply is enough for a single GPU setup so I am going to reuse it.
GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD4P $219.99 @ Ewiz (great since I will go CF or ever switch to Nvidia and wish to SLI in the future)
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4890 1GB $200 (used a $20 promocode) @ Ewiz (I couldn't find a 4770 in stock and the places that did wanted more than its worth so I went with the 4890 which really cost me $180 because of a promocode and the $20 mail in rebate its coming with)
ABS El-Diablo Case $89.98 @ Chiefvalue (only 10 shipping too so it made it cheaper than newegg which would have made it over $100)
So not counting few items that had shipping charges or the mail in rebates I spent about $900 Not to bad.
the 4890 will probably be better for you. it's 1 gb frame buffer will help out especially when you are playing at 1920x1080. The price you got it at makes it a better buy IMO.
If you have the money, up it to a 4850X2. It's about sixty dollars more.

LOL...now that's some nice shopping! It's a nice change to see someone on here get good deals like you did. You have a great build for that price.
