Hp Pavillion dv9700

I have a motherboard issue with my 19 month old HP dv9700 laptop which i have had to a pc/Laptop technician who claims there is a problem with defected motherboards with this series of Hp Laptops.On reading some of your theads it appears that this is the case.
I have ben advised that under the sale of goods act,The responsability of repare lies with pc world from where i purchased,and not Hp.
I have also been advised that HP have extented the 1 year warrenty to 2 years as acknowledgement of this defect.Is there anyone out there able to offer any advice to what to do.I am not really in the position to lay out £200 for repair.
Any advice will be very much appriceated.
