Speaking of the sun it might be overheating problems.

I like the Sun idea, what about a short- breadboard it, if the problem goes away check contact points to be sure no footings on mounting base touch nearby electronics on bottom of board- insultate footings with masking tape.
Would help if more detail like built yesterday or running fine for 1 year.
