Hi, I've got the following components already
[strike]
1GB XFX HD4870 XXX DDR5 775MHz[/strike]
640GB WD SATA2 WD6401AALS 7200
AMD PHENOM2 X3 720 BE SAM3 CPU
ANTEC THREE HUNDRED CASE
Corsair TwinX 4GB DDR2 8500 C5
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4 Mobo
LG GH22NS40 22X SATA BLK OEM
Xigmatek HDT-S1283 CPU 120mm
650W TX Corsair PSU

The 4870 gpu I had was giving me a no signal output as it was faulty and according to the AMD forums several cards from the 4000 range suffer from this problem so I was thinking of avoiding ATI cards all together, so am looking at this card http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/896M...xDL-DVI-I-HDTV-plus-FarCry-2-plus-FREE-Vouch].

The question I have is, would there be any compatibility issues using an nvidia card with Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4 Motherboard as it seems AMD/ATI friendly with crossfire support?

Thanks for the advice.

p.s I have no interest in crossfire or SLI now or in the future.

An nVidia card wont work in crossfire . Thats an amd technology .

nvidia cards pair in SLI but your motherboard cant do that .

In general there is no problem with ATI cards . Yes there will be the occasional card thats DOA but that is obviously very unusual or they wouldnt be in business any more .

Buy an ati card with confidence

I think you are misunderstanding the question which is will a single nvidia card work in that motherboard or am I stuck with ATI cards? I know crossfire is for amd as SLI is for nvidia.
