Hey All,
My department just got the OK for dual 19" monitors for work (yay ... welcome to 2000). Since I'm the "computer guy" in the office and we can't trust our IT girl, I've been tagged with the project. We're running dual 19" monitors wtih 1440x900 resolution. We're in finance & accounting, so there is no gaming involved Not that it really matters, we're running stock Dells with the Intel C2D E8400. What's the best (cheapest) solution to fix this one? Most "cost-efficient" is the key here. I just talked them into springing for the E8400 upgrade (we were running the C2D 6300). We are under severe budget cuts.
Would 512mb DDR2 128-bit be good enough ~ $50? Or should we spring for DDR3? We're only running spreadsheets, IE7, & a few databases.
Just a tad bit overkill for *cough*cough* non-gaming systems. I'm running dual monitors with an FX5200 without issue (on a dell GX270). What really matters in this case is the connection your monitors have. If they have both DVI and VGA inputs, then I'd probably recommend a Geforce 7200GS. But if the monitors only have DVI inputs, then I'd probably go with something like this ATI Radeon HD3650.
The monitors do have both connections. I had the privelage of introducing DVI to everyone in the office. After a few saw the color/image difference in the DVI vs VGA, they amazingly went with DVI. Fun times. We'll be running dual DVI.
Yeah, so I was definately thinking the HD3650 throughout the office.
I may talk them into this one for me (GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB 128-bit GDDR3) since I am responsible for the web updates!
