I overclocked my 955 BE @ 4.0ghz using default voltage of 1.40v. Is this ok?

I can run benches and it is working fine, it's just that the temps are not accurate when I use CoreTemp and AMD Overdrive. Sometimes its not even detecting or showing the temp at all.

It is stable @ 3.7ghz but i am wondring why default voltage falls on 1.40-1.44v.

The temps im getting are a bit off. On idle, it is about 40C and 54C on full load. I have C3 and it seems stable @ 4.0ghz using prime95 for 30mins.

I have it on 3.7Ghz with 4 hours of prime95 and luckily it never crashed or BSOD with temps of 54C.

Im trying to push my luck Ocing it to 4.0 but im quite scared because the temps are the same with 3.7 and 4.0 @ 54C. The max temp I got is 54C on all the tweaking i made.

before i start pushing it again, I would like to know if 4.0ghz @ default of 1.40-1.48v is enough and wont cause any damage to my rig.

I have Oced the RAM to 1600mhz with 9-9-9-24-1T.
HT is at 2000 and NB is 2600 with voltage of 1.256v

Here's my Rig

MSI 890gxm-g65 mobo
Kingston 2x2GB DDR3 1333mhz
PII 955 BE

I am planning to replace the stock cooler with hypher212+ soon because summer is near.

Is it ok for my rig to push it further or stay @ 3.7ghz?

Thanks.

just got the coolermaster v8 and its almost perfect! got my temps down for like 5-7C

I can OC at 4.0Ghz at 1.44v without worrying about the temps.

It's stable at 3.9Ghz, I'm going to check at 4.0
