Ok im still stuck using DDR2 so i decided it was time to step up to DDR3.
Here are my current specs:
Motherboard: ASUS P5N-D 750i Chipset
Processor: Intel core 2 quad q6600
Ram: 3GB of DDR2 pc2 6400 at 400mhz
CPU cooling: Uhm i didnt really know its not stock but it looks like a metal box with heatsinks coming off of it and the intake fan is facing the rear of the computer case so its like sideways mounted.
GPU: Nvidia Gtx 260 core 216 superclocked edition.
Case: Guardian 925 (Med ATX)
So what im wondering is, is that if everything is compatible and if there are any operations I must go through to change the mother board. (Any uninstalling OS issues etc.) So are motherboards "Hot swappable" software wise? Also if you suggest anything different please keep the total UNDER $300
Unless you already have a buyer for your old board and memory, I would hold off on any ddr3 upgrade. You won't notice the difference. Overclocking your old 6600 will give you the best performance boost, and it's free.

See thats justit idk if my cooler can handle overclocking its already at 2.5ghz on stock cooler, besides ASUS overclocking utlities suck and i hate my bios.
My memory sucks and i really need new ram, any other suggestions?
