Hello all,

quick question: I've an older GeForce 6800 256MB video card that is starting to show its age a bit. I was on Tiger and saw a XFX GeForce 9600 GSO Video Card - 768MB DDR2 for only $75. I'm thinking about picking it up. I'm a casual gamer (CoH, COD, RoN, C&C) and I'm wondering if I'd experience any BIG benefits by swapping out for the 9600? More FPS, better resolution, etc?

Thanks! :)

With the 9600 GSO you'll have about 10 to 15 percent gain in your FPS but more if you spend $10 more for a 9800 GT and go for double the gain, about a 25% to 35%performance gain.

$90 after rebate

you will experience a good performance boost but not really a big one. That 9600GS you linked uses DDR2 memory and can't really utilize 768mb anyways.

for $75 I would look at a 9600GSO, 3870,4670 or 9600GT with 512mb of DDR3 memory.

the 9800GT will give you big improvements you want.
