Hi everyone, I dont post that often, as you can see from my computer setup below, my computer is a bit inconsistant in terms of specification. I have a P5K Motherboard which is made for ATi CrossFire, whereas i have 1x8800GTS, i recently got a lovely BenQ FP241W and i want to be able to play some of my new games on high resolution, any tips on the next graphics card i can get? would like to spend only up to £170, Would getting 2 graphics cards in CrossFire configuration around £85 be as powerful as 1 that is £170?
Well it depends on your system wheter you should get a single card or crossfire and sli. If you have i7 cpu you should get two cards because the i7 cpu is more efficient with them than most if not all cpus. But if you have the 8800gts 512 you should be ok playing most games on 1920x1200 except some games such as Crysis and GTA4 where you might get some low fps some times.
If I were you first playing on 1920x1200 and then if not happy change to a better gpu.
With that size monitor, a 1Gb or similar card is really a must, 512Mb is going to have its work cut out if you apply AA at that resoloution.
There is no viable Crossfire option for your budget. While 1Gb HD4850 cards are around they will cost over 240 pounds the pair, and the 2Gb HD4850X2 is priced much the same.
Given yiou have a Crossfire motherboard: Go for the 1Gb HD4870: It will run without further changes or upgrades and is still a potent card. Oh yes, and it leaves one slot open for Crossfire later Places to look: CCL, Scan, Overclockers, Microdirect, E-buyer and Novatech to start.

for that price the 4890 is the dogs, one of the best cards on the market or 2x 4770s rock as well plus i think they use less electricity, but you would have to check that out
