I looking into purchasing a new hsf for my Phenom II 550. I was able to unlock the two cores and make it into a quad core. I am not sure about the stability since the temps went over 70 under full load. Would the Xigmatek s1283 be sufficent to cool it?

You cant go wrong with either choice. I've bought the Xigmatek S1283 for the last 3 AMD computers I have put together for myself and other people. Great cooler for the price. Dropped my temps from the 50's down into the 30's with max not going above the high 40's even after hours of prime95.

I think i am gonna go with the sunbeam because the way the retention bracket is oriented on my motherboard, the xigmatek would be perpendicular to the rear exhaust fan. the sunbeam would be parallel
