Laptop dvd drive not working

Hello,
My laptop is of compaq presario v6500 and im having problem wth my cd-rom
im not able to eject cd's and it's not detecting my cd/dvds. Please help

Make sure the drive is powered (connected to the power cable as well as the data cable); also, see if it recognized in BIOS (enter BIOS and see if it is detected there). If not, time to get a new drive. They are not expensive and you can get good brands for a good price.
They are not very prone to failure, but it happens. Keep an eye on the HDD, that might be next.
