However, some counterviews appears online soon. Some players said that Pentium E6500K didnt conform to media results.Specifically, one player made Pentium E6500K overclock to 3.6GHz in 1.312V with air-cooling assistance. It even cant reach 3.8GHz in 1.4V
Those complaining about the P2 965, read this:
Current Pentium E6500K overclocking performance seems the same as that of previous Pentium E5000 series.Unlocked multiplier doesnt bring bigger overclocking capacities. And Pentium E6500K default voltage has been pre increased.Consumers have smaller adjustment extent with increased power consumption.

Also NO ONE (trustable) said any of the 5Ghz OC's were on Air. And +.1v is a pretty small bump. Now say +.3-+.5 that would be a bit of a problem. This CPU wasnever meant to be a true "unlocked" CPU like the Intel "Extreme" CPUs. This CPU is for the WCing/Dice/LN2 crowd to get to 4-5Ghz What did you expect for a $100 CPU?

Well intel have been selling cpu's on the back of phantom overclocks for years so no reason to change that particular selling point for them.
How many of your i7's really go to 4ghz? About the same number who got their Q6600's to 3.6ghz I bet, ie pretty far removed from the majority stuck at 3-3.2ghz.
Actually, D0 i7s seem to go to 4GHz fairly regularly. C0 didn't, true, but with the D0 stepping, they don't honestly seem to have much trouble with getting to that speed.

They threw a bone to fans to retaliate against AMD selling unlocked chips at less than $1k a pop, but made sure they weren't special at all (read: not better chips at all). Allows them to silence people's moaning about no cheaper unlocked procs, and ensures they sell the same # of chips because if you still want a good one, you have to get a good one.
