Problem with seegate hard-drive working with windows xp

Since I have reformatted my PC with windows XP home edition my seegate 500 GB hard-drive will not allow windows to open. Do I need a driver, as I do not seem to have a disc. Cannot remember if I need one? Can anyone help?

reinstall your drivers for the HD

Thank you for your prompt reply. This is the Expansion External 500GB drive unit. I will go to the seegate support site to try and get the driver download?
