Title says it all.
Well.. almost all of it.

My friend says replacing the mobo will trigger some Dell product activation or something like that in the OS. I'm just wondering, though.

I didn't buy this at some major retailer, I bought this from a small business that sells parts, repairs PC, etc. So it MAY be possible that the OEM OS was installed over.

I'm just wondering if there is a way I could tell if this is the case or not?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: BTW, it's a Dell Optiplex GX620,
I'm fairly sure it's an ATX design. At least the PSU that worked in my old HP Pavilion a430n will work fine in this one. 24-pin connector, btw.

Most dells are all custom from the ground up (case fits etc), and replacing a motherboard wont offer any sort of performance increase when your using the same processor, ram etc

Also with new motherboards/systems DO A FRESH INSTALL - i cant push this point enough
