Greetings -

Have a 380w Seasonic PSU, currently powering an old (single core) Athlon 3000+ 64, a silent 9600GT card in an Abit AX8 board.

For home music recording and photo (not video) editing. Firewire is a req't (on the mobo, or add ~ $15 for a card). And don't want a CPU power draw >65w.

But I do want something faster. Don't really want to spend more than $200. Couldn't find a comparable cost-effective Intel solution that didn't have significant issues (bottom line - couldn't find an inexpensive brand-name LGA 775 mobo that didn't have 20% or more poor comments)

Have come up with this this:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 Brisbane 2.7GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core CPU

GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-US2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128379

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820231122

Would appreciate feedback. Is there appreciably more stability and / or value to be had with other choices?

Thanks kindly.
