I have a Gateway FX 6800 - 01e computer and I think it has an INTEL DX58SO motherboard. It has the standard 3gig of DDR3 ram. I want to add more memory so I went to the Intel website and this motherboard shows 4 memory slots and instructs how to put 3 dimms in for 3 channel memory.
I looked in my machine and ther are 6 total slots, in pairs of two, each pair being white and blue. My 3 dimms are in the whitle slots with every other slot (the blue ones) empty. I checked out a few sites and found memory kits of 3 2 gig dimms for a total of 6 gig. Can I put these into the blue slots for a total of 9 gig, or should the 3 singles I already have be together and the new ones together, or doesn't it matter? Thanks. Tom

Intel site lists DX58SO as having 4 DIMM Slots.

edit.....sorry no help.

I would install all sticks and see what happens. It will either work or require more voltage to run 3 more sticks.
