Hello. My monitor is not displaying anything, despite the fact that my computer is booting and running just fine (I can even hear the Windows Vista tune). However, I never see anything, not even BIOS (which shouldn't rely on any of my nVidia drivers). I have tried resetting CMOS and all that good stuff, but beyond that, there's not much I can do as I can't even see BIOS at the start. The light on my monitor is orange, indicating that it's in standby and isn't receiving any signal. It might be worth noting that this morning, I opened my case and noticed that a wire was blocking the fan from spinning. Does this sound like a hardware issue? I've tested the monitor in another computer, so I know it's working. Might it be that my graphics card is burnt out? Suggestions? Cheers!
Just for reference: Graphics Card: Sparkle GeForce 8600GT, 512 MB CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHz (E6400) Motherboard: ECS 570 v5.1 RAM: 5 GB DDR2

Whenyou said "a wire was blocking the fan from spinning" . . . which fan?
Yes it's likely your vid card has passed on . . . but if you have access to another computer, test it there. Or if you can grab the vid card from the other system for a bit, test it in your current PC.
+1 probably killed your GPU.
RMA it and keep an eye on your cable routing this time around

Thanks for the responses. I'm done testing my luck with this. The card runs for a while, but if it gets too hot or the resolution changes, it fails.
Thanks for your input. Yes, the wire was blocking the Zalman fan attached to the GPU from spinning. I'm guessing that was enough to send it over the edge. It's strange, though, because CPU-Z says the GPU is only running at 47 degrees Celcius. You would have thought that would have been fine. Of course, that's now only AFTER I unblocked the fan. Oh well. I've put an order in for a new graphics card and bought myself an Akasa Vortexx cooler. We'll see how that goes.
