err you made two threads.... lol

if your going to upgrade to HD4870 wouldn't it make senses just to get the HD4870 anyway? than add another later

and for GTA4 you may want a nvida card but I managed with a single HD4870 with meduim that was maxed btw it played nice. means you can have corrsfire if you want the equivnent to say two HD4870 in nvida form you would be looking ath the GTX285 or GTX295....annoyingly GTX275 is about the same as the HD4890 so about %10 faster

Two HD 4770 XFired does quite well even beating a single HD 4890. Just be aware not all games will take advantage of XFire or SLI.

OH SNAP!
so, for upgradeability, go the 1GB 4870? and for now, the 4770 XF? are there driver issues for the 4770 XF?

the biggest issue with the 4770 is that you can't find one anywhere.

given the choice between an available card and an unavailable one, the choice becomes clear.

to throw another possibility out there, you can now purchase 4850's for less than $100 (after mir). you could xfire a couple of those for under what it would cost to xfire the sold-out 4770s and have slightly better performance.

so do 4850XF beat XF4770, which in turn beats 4870?

this is what I seen, rember drivers play a major role here

2 HD4770 => a single HD4850 ...2HD4850 =>A HD4870 <HD4890 <HD4870X2 or xfire HD4870. than finally xf HD4890 >=GTX295 and HD4870X2 its something like that

and he mentioned he might upgrade teh xfire HD4770 at a later stage, whch will cost him more money logicaly, as he has to buy 3 cards rather than just one.
think about it

It may not be his fault that he's alphabetically challenged, he could have been dropped on his head when he was a baby, you never know.
