CPU Trouble

I have tried an Athlon 64x2 3800, my PC will run but will crash at any time. Normally a system memory dump. Any help as to a fix would be wonderful.
I,m running:- XP pro, sp3.
Abit An8 socket 939
Nvidia chipset
Ati HD3870
Antec EW 430
and Athlon 64 3200

If I read you right and you have just upgraded your single core A64-3200 to a 3800X2 then my first thing to do in your situation (assuming you have already updated your BIOS to the latest version available for your motherboard) would be to do a Windows repair in XP. You are likely to have issues caused by the fact that XP was installed on a single core system and now you have added an extra core. A repair install will re-install Windows but keep all your programs and files.
