Need advice on a good office rig. Would I do better to just buy one from dell or is it worth building myself? I built a highend rig which I knew that was the best way to go but not sure on this one. budget under $1000. I will do spread sheets, light cad work, major multitasking, while on the net, will need an office suite but that would not be in the build's budget. I guess office 2007 also I have 2 22" screens it will need to run

Well i recently suggested a 4 monitors office rig set up based on our very own forum's test done earlier here:

Feel free to remove the discrete as with the DVI + VGA ports one could run 2 monitors just off the integrated video fine for office applications hehe Oh and dunno if u really need 2TB space for HDD :P

If u worried about office space this rig is in a small footprint mATX casing with a Earthwatts 380 80% efficient PSU chugging along

^ good but i'd switch the e8400 and P5Q pro for a 720 BE and 790GX motherboard with some 1066mhz ram instead of 800mhz.

then swap the 4850 X2 for a 4890 as it outputs less heat but is just as powerful.

edit: actually drop the OS and use win7 instead and use a 4870 X2 not a 4890.
