Hello all!
I have currently have a single 9800GTX and need to upgrade.. I'm leaning towards the GX2 because of Tom's testing placing quite high..
So just wondering what are the drawbacks of the GX2 if any? Not so worried about the performance as their pretty much neck and neck, and the GX2 is cheaper by a little..
I do have a 1000w PSU, evga 780i FTW Q6600 @3.6.
thank you all!

What resoloution are you using?
The 9800GX2 is getting old hat now and can have issues with temperatures and variable framerates, not to mention the limited 512Mb (per core) of framebuffer, limiting its high resoloution/AA performance.
The GTX280 is a better card at higher resoloutions but does burn a fair bit of juice. Perhaps you would consider the GTX275 instead?

There was also one poster who noted that the heat that is generated causes the cards HSF to become unstuck requiring the whole unit to be squeezed back together to prevent meltdown.

depending of the games, if it doesn't support multi-gpu, then the gtx 280 will be better and the min fps should be higher and more stable with a single gpu.

I have an evga 9800gx2 and it plays everything fine.

The screen is 24" 1920x1200.
I would like to spend no more than $250..
What card can I get new (either ebay (must be a store for warranty!!)or Newegg) for this amount?
Well I don't have so much money but I'm realizing the 9800GTX can't handle some games so well, or as well as I'd like it too.. Like GTA4.
Adding another card is less efficient than selling and adding a little to get something that's better than 2x9800GTX..understand what i'm saying? :??: So I was considering the GX2. But I see I can even get a
I know very little about the new cards beyond the 280..and jeez louise..how many versions of the 260 and 280's.. I'm looking at the 275..we'll see..

One other point, the GTX cards are quite long, count on needing close to 12" or you'll find it a tight squeeze.
As for versions: Warranty, warranty, warranty. BFG, XFX anf EVGA have the best and BFG and EVGA have 'step up' programs but see their websites, those programs are USA and Canada ONLY:(
